Consent Feature on SeyID

Overview

The SeyID Consent Feature is designed to provide a secure and efficient way for entities to request access to an individual’s SeyID profile. This profile includes the individual’s full name, National Identity Number (NIN), email address, phone number, gender and date of birth.

  1. Consent Request: When an entity needs to access a customer’s SeyID profile, they send a consent request to the customer by entering the customer’s NIN and the reason for the request.

  2. Notification: The customer receives a notification on their SeyID app informing them of the consent request.

  3. Review and Action: The individual logs into their SeyID app and selects ‘MyConsent’ on the dashboard. Here, they can view the consent request details, including the provider who sent it, the date, the reason and the consent status.

  4. Approval or Denial:
  • If the individual approves the consent request, the provider gains access to the customer’s information using their NIN.
  • If the individual revokes consent after approving it, the provider will be informed and advised to delete the individual’s details. The provider will be unable to access the customer’s information further, however we cannot guarantee the deletion of already stored details.
  • If the individual denies the request, the provider will not have access to the individual’s information.

Certain entities, such as law enforcement, can access an individual's data without requesting consent due to the sensitive nature of their work. Individuals will be alerted that their information has been viewed once the sensitive requestor chooses to release this information.

  • Convenience: The SeyID Consent Feature saves time by allowing individuals to share their information digitally, eliminating the need for in-person visits.
  • Security: Individuals have control over who can access their information, ensuring their data is protected.
  • Transparency: Individuals are notified of all consent requests and can manage consents.
